Birds

Kindergarten and 1st graders learned about living and non-living things in quarter 1. At the end of the quarter, we did some Mystery Science lessons where we observed the behaviors of different animals (quails, squirrels, preying mantis, racoons, woodpeckers, and gophers) and learned that their behavior was based on their needs- find a home, find food, and stay safe. At the end of the quarter we made bird feeders!

In quarter 2, students will learn more about birds by observing their beaks. Have you ever noticed that bird beaks are shaped in different ways? Check out these videos of birds eating at bird feeders. What do you notice? What do you wonder?
